Beverage Monday. Tequila!!!!

Today we are featuring Tequila.
Which in the right hands can be like a fine cognac or great wine. With that in mind, how about a tequila tasting at your couple's shower? or your destination wedding in Mexico? Or even your wedding here in a Spanish style venue. How unique would that be? Serve Mexican specialties, have a taco bar, have a tequila lounge. There are so many different varieties, price levels and tastes beyond Jose Cuervo!!!

For those of you less inclined to taste tequila straight here are a couple of recipes.

Spicy Margarita

1 1/2 oz Sauza Hornitos Tequila
Splash spicy tequila
1/2 oz Grand Marnier®
Sweet and Sour
paprika
salt
lime powder
Serrano pepper

Add ice into a Shaker. Put all the ingredients into a shaker then shake. Pour into a glass rimmed with paprika, salt, and lime powder. Garnish with a slice of Serrano pepper.

Recipe from Fine Living

Besitos {Kisses}

1.5 parts Anejo Tequila
1 part Limoncello
1 part Stoli Citrus
Dash of grenadine
Juice of half a lemon
Put all the ingredients in a shaker filled with ice. Shake well, strain the ice and serve in a martini glass, garnish with a gummy heart.

Recipe from Drink of the Week

A little back story, I'm a Southern California Girl & I cocktailed in a Mexican restaurant for 3 years so I have served & drank my fair share of Margarita's & shots of Tequila. Tequila also meant a massive hangover the next day or running down to TJ when you're under age. So when on one of our 1st dates my {now} husband ordered Corralejo Tequila and drank it like cognac, I was a little taken aback. I never really thought of drinking it that way, never really wanted to. The quicker I swallowed it the quicker I could chase it. This post is for Mr. Joyeux the man who showed me there's a different way to drink {enjoy} tequila. Corralejo Anejo{the red bottle} is his favorite.

Wedding Cookies

MMMM, Pretty Cookies!!! These are from Brenda's Wedding Blog of Best Wedding Sites. They are about 4" in diameter. These would be great for favors, a dessert buffet or a shower. She caries a few different designs and quite a few can be personalized. You know I just love the ones with the Eiffel Tower!!

Cake Wrecks

These are Cakes

If you want a a laugh check out Cake Wrecks. It's a blog about cakes gone incredibly wrong. Can you imagine cutting into and eating these? Who wants to eat a pile of s***? I wonder what it says? What about eating your child's face? Just curious?

Graffiti for your Wedding

I first heard about Wonderful Graffiti earlier this year. I think it's a great idea to add a little something extra to your day. I wish I knew about this in 2005, we has this huge white wall with cathedral ceilings at our reception venue and something like this would have been fantastic.

Below are some samples of their work. You can really go wild with the graffiti customization that they offer, plus they have lots of other cool stuff to add that something extra to your Signature Day!!!

I found the one below at Kohl's department store today and decided to give it a try. It took about a half hour of rubbing, before I could even start pulling the paper away. Only the letter's separate from the adhesive, so once I figured that out, it was easy. It did take more time than I thought it would, although I think it added a bit of fun to the bathroom wall!! Don't all bathrooms need a little graffiti? I do hope the ones from Wonderful Graffiti are easier to apply/take less time!!!

Batman-The Dark Knight

Since the 6th Batman movie{yes, 6th}, The Dark Knight, is coming out this Friday, July 18th, I thought I would give you a glimpse of my little Batman.

He started off as Batman for Halloween 2007 and Batman has continued being his favorite all this year. Which is fine by me since BATMAN has always been my favorite super hero. For his birthday party in May, we knew exactly what the theme would be this year.
Here's a little glimpse into my life as the Mommy of Batman!!!!

Yes, my son is even themed with a Batman shirt and a button with Batman that read Birthday Boy.

As a big Batman fan myself, it is the one movie I have always seen on opening day. Even Batman Begins, with a one year old, who wasn't too thrilled to be there!!

So see you on opening day!!!

Happy Birthday Christy!!!

A Purple Inspiration Board
with touches of Green for a Modern look.

In honor of my niece Christy, I thought I would do an inspiration board of her favorite color with touches of her daughter's favorite color, green. By using a deep color it gives it a more modern feel.
Purple hasn't always been Christy's fav color. I remember when she loved orange, then around 6 she changed her mind and ever since it's been all about purple. So here's to you Christy & Summer for the inspiration! Happy Birthday #32, Kiddo!!!
