Wicked

Hello Lovely Readers,
I just saw Wicked: For Good. There are very few films that I will go to on opening day/ weekend, anymore. I can wait a bit. However, I made an exception for the second Wicked

And I saw both of them in 3D. This time we received souvenir glasses, in pink or green

I was always a fan of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, and watched the yearly showing with my mom, growing up.

I have yet to see the musical version of Wicked, because the first time it came to California, I was still mourning my mom...

I actually didn't attend a Broadway production for close to 20 years before seeing Hamilton, for the 1st time, in 2022.

Anyways, I loved the movie. I really didn't read spoilers for either before watching, but knew a couple of things beforehand.

Are you a fan?

What movie brings you back to your childhood?

Until next time

Beverage Monday~Libra Cocktails

Hi Lovely Readers,
I'm not sure if I'll do this every Monday, but since my birthday is this week I'm going to kick- off the feature again with Libra Cocktails.

Libra is an air sign ruled by Venus. Pink, rose & pomegranate are colors, scents and flavors of the the sign so all the drinks are pink, with pomegranate, and are garnished or dashed with roses.

The Libra Cocktail

  • ¾ oz. reposado tequila
  • ¾ oz blanc vermouth
  • ¾ oz. pomegranate liqueur
  • ½ oz. orange curacao
  • ¾ oz pineapple juice
  • ½ oz. lime juice
  • dash of bitters
  • rose petals
Add all ingredients to a cocktail shaker. Add ice, shake until well-chilled. Strain into a cocktail glass, add rose petals as a garnish.

Recipe from Veranda

The Venus Fizz

Venus Fizz

  • 2 ozs. of light rum
  • 1 oz. fresh lemon juice (strained)
  • 1 tsp. rosewater
  • ¾ oz. Coco Lopez coconut cream
  • ¼ oz. grenadine
  • ¾ oz. pasteurized egg whites
  • 2 ounces approx. soda water
  • rose petals
Add the rum, lemon juice, rosewater, Coco Lopez and grenadine into a shaker. Add ice shake until chilled. Strain the liquid into another container and add the egg whites, then use a milk frother to aerate the egg whites. Look for a firmer foam to appear on top of the drink
{or you may return the drink into a shaker and shake without ice for around 5 minutes}. Pour into a chilled Collins glass and top with soda water till the foam goes just above the lip of the glass. There should be a light and airy foam top. Garnish with rose petals.

Recipe from Rum Raiders

Rose Water Fizz

  • Champagne
  • 3 dashes rosewater
  • 1 oz. pomegranate juice
  • pomegranate seeds
Add rosewater and pomegranate juice to a flute. Top with champagne. Garnish with pomegranate seeds.

It's a Barbie World

Hello lovely readers,
I grew up in the 70's, a proud Gen-Xer. One of my favorite toys was Barbie. I received a new one each Christmas and I had all of her accessories, too. My favorite was  the 1977 Superstar Barbie. My outfit for the day was inspired by her. I've always been a pink loving girl, and thought I would be too much in a hot pink jumpsuit but I fit right in...

So besides the movie, which was fantastic, and very empowering, Los Angeles, or more specifically Santa Monica had a fun, fan experience. It's a Barbie World included a life-size dreamhouse living room, kitchen & closet. We were able to "swim" in her pool that was full of bubbles. Then we ventured over to her camper. Her first one came out when I was kid, and they had one that we could "drive." There was also a beach, a campfire & "fountain."

There were human-sized boxes that we could pose in, and a cute wall of shoes. Upstairs was a museum, runway, recording studio, newsroom and airplane/spacecraft. It was so fun stepping into Barbie's world for an afternoon.

More Pictures!

Here are some more photos from the special event. This time we are featuring tabletops for Weddings.

You know I just loved the one below! It is described as Hot is not only for the tropics. By mixing Bamboo with non Asian elements you come up with a modern look. I love the floral chandelier the placesetting and the fun centerpiece.

This one is called One (wo)man's trash is another (wo)man's treasure. It is used with discarded greenery. Don't you love the personalized napkins?

They called this one Classic Design. Always in Style. The return of opulent, formal decor without the over the top abundance. I love the Croquembouche and the bride's bouquet just laying there on the seat.

Enjoy,

The photos were taken by me. The tables were done by Rene van Rems International & Exclusive Designs & Events.

Mexican Inspiration Board

In honor of this week's Mexican Independence Day I thought we should feature a Mexican Inspiration Board. Mexico is a very colorful place. So this one features the many colors of Mexico and also a couple of must haves at Mexican weddings.

  • Almost all Mexican weddings (bodas) include a Mariachi Band.
  • These favors include milagros. Little religious medals. From Brides.
  • This is at Hacienda Las Trancas, located in the heart of Mexico, about 4 hours northwest of Mexico City, in Guanajuato.
  • This floral cake is from The Knot.
  • The Los Muertos cake topper was found on Brides.
  • The fountain picture was taken at Las Trancas.
  • How about personalized Hot Sauce for a favor?
  • Arras are coins used during the Mexican wedding ceremony. A groom gives his bride 13. Arras symbolize the groom's promise to support his family.
  • Mexican Wedding Cake Cookies. Yum! From Epicurious.
  • This Table Scape was found on The Knot.
  • A little Senor and Senorita favor. Found on Santa Barbara Wedding.
  • Invitation from Exclusively Weddings.
  • Sangria photo from Eat Around the Pitt.
  • Bout from The Knot.

Adios,

Shoes That Wow!!!

I love the idea of a bride not wearing white shoes. I wish I would have thought of it when I was married. Instead I wore a very boring, white satin sandal.
These shoes by Christian Louboutin are featured on the June/July cover of Brides magazine. Aren't they fabulous??? Just remember Bride's can do whatever they want to create their 'bridal' look. Whether that means hot pink heels or a hot pink dress, what ever makes you happy is what you should wear.
